You’ve spent much of your life taking care of others.
It’s time to understand what you need, too.
Therapy for First-Generation Women
Carrying Everything for Everyone can get Heavy.
You learned early how to be responsible.
To help your family. To hold things together when things got hard.
You want to succeed and honor your family’s sacrifices.
And resting or slowing down can feel uncomfortable, even guilty.
You’re used to being the strong one.
Setting boundaries can feel unnatural, or even selfish.
On the outside, it may look like you have everything together.
But internally, you might feel exhausted.
Anxiety, burnout, or overwhelm start to feel like your “normal.”
Therapy isn’t about telling you to stop caring for others.
It’s about helping you understand what you need too.
When you understand your needs, your limits, and your emotions, you can move through life with more clarity, and care for others without losing yourself in the process.
Sessions available in English and Spanish.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Therapy that honors both your story and your nervous system.
Life experiences, especially stressful or painful ones, don’t just live in memories.
They show up in how we respond to stress, relationships, expectations, and responsibility.
In therapy, we take a compassionate look at how those experiences may still be shaping your thoughts, emotions, and patterns today.
My work takes a trauma-informed and holistic approach, recognizing that emotional, mental, and physical well-being are deeply connected.
My approach may include:
Trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Relational therapy
Somatic (body-based) awareness
Nervous system regulation
Mindfulness and grounding practices
Together, we build tools that help you understand yourself more clearly and move through life with greater steadiness and self-trust.
Your Support System
Jennifer Ruiz Blandon, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting adults navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, and major life transitions.
As a first-generation eldest daughter of Colombian parents, I understand the balance many of my clients carry, honoring family, culture, and responsibility while also trying to build a life that feels authentic and sustainable.
In our work together, we explore how past experiences may still be shaping the way you think, feel, and respond to stress today. My approach is trauma-informed and holistic, recognizing that life experiences live not only in our memories but also in our bodies and patterns.
I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, relational therapy, somatic (body-based) awareness, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness practices to support your healing and growth.
My goal isn’t to “fix” you. It’s to create a space where you can better understand yourself, reconnect with your needs and boundaries, and move forward with greater clarity and self-trust.
Sessions are offered virtually throughout New York State and are available in English and Spanish.
“You wouldn't yell at a friend going through a tough time. Why speak to yourself that way?"
— Sharon Salzberg
Therapy is not about “fixing” you.
It’s about creating a space where you can understand your experiences, reconnect with yourself, and move forward with greater clarity and self-trust.
